Lotus High Report Back
It has been a whirlwind 4 weeks since I posted about my move to Lotus High and inviting the members of the 4 Facebook groups: the Bergvliet Community, the Kirstenhof Community, the Constantia Society and The Village to consider supporting the school through donating school fees, paint or school uniform.
What followed was beyond my expectations:
Exposure:
The post was shared multiple times across many other Facebook groups.
Radio and local newspaper interviews followed.
Offers of website/social media design and hosting
Financial support:
Individuals and corporates came up trumps with donations ranging from R150,00 to R50 000,00. The current total is R150 000,00
A BackaBuddy campaign has also been launched.
Goods and services:
100’s of sanitary pads, a lot of food, pre-used sports equipment, library books (new and used), offers of academic support, counseling services, career counseling and workshops, office desks and typist chairs, paint, and more!
Members of each of the 4 Facebook communities I originally posted to, really stepped up to the plate and when Wendy Williams share the post to the Ottery en wat wat community group, they too responded positively.
I’d like to thank Lee-Ann Laufs (Kirstenhof Community), Keri Cross (Constantia Society), Tracey Metcalfe Knox (Bergvliet Surrounds and Community), Wendy Williams (Ottery en wat wat) and Vanessa Raphaely (The Village) for approving, sharing and mobilizing the members of their respective communities to support Lotus High. You ladies are incredible. Thank you!!

Our BackaBuddy campaign: The Power of 720
Please visit our website, like/follow our Facebook page and share our posts, and if you would like to support a learner with school fees, then please go to our BackaBuddy page.
We have acknowledged all donors on our website (some of you donated anonymously) and we are adding more every day as we see the payment in our account.
This campaign has reached all around the world and we hope to keep the momentum going until the end of the year. If you can’t afford an immediate lump sum payment, please consider a monthly debit order of R60 a month in favour of Lotus High School.
Thank you on behalf of the SGB, staff, parents and learners of Lotus High.
