Eco mural: our school badge made from recycled bottle tops

Our foyer now features a striking eco mural of the Lotus High school badge, created entirely from thousands of recycled plastic bottle tops collected by learners, staff, and community members. Inspired by a similar project in the United Kingdom, our Eco Club led the initiative to sort the bottle tops by colour and size before they were carefully placed onto the mural. Local artist Faizel Dhansay outlined the badge, and Grade 10 learner Morne Booysen devoted many hours to painstakingly attaching each top. The finished artwork is a celebration of creativity, teamwork, and environmental responsibility, reminding us daily of the need to protect our waterways and reduce plastic waste.
