Dear Rondebosch Boys High School and LOTUS High School Communities,
What an extraordinary two days it has been. The Lotus High x Rondebosch Boys Community Clean-Up brought together learners, educators, and volunteers in a powerful display of service, unity, and environmental stewardship. The impact of these past 48 hours will be felt for seasons to come — in every clean classroom, every turned bed, every seedling planted.
Day One saw learners arrive in full force, rolling up their sleeves to clean classrooms, tend the gardens, and restore the veggie patch. The transformation was immediate and remarkable. What was once overgrown and tired became open, welcoming, and full of possibility.
Day Two carried the momentum forward with seedling planting, propagating, and well-earned games. The learners moved between raised beds with focus and care, working the soil, transplanting green shoots, and building something that will grow long after they leave the campus.
This event was a testament to what happens when two school communities come together with a shared purpose. The spirit of Ubuntu was alive — learners from both schools working side by side, laughing, learning, and lifting each other up.

Who worked for days prior to this, organising the delivery of the tarmac, the soil for the vegetable gardens aswell as the seedlings that needed planting. For running the day with such enthusiasm and grace. A more orgaised and smooth day, we couldnt have wished for.

Closing Reflection
They came with gloves and garden forks. They left with something far more valuable — a sense of belonging, of purpose, and of what a community can achieve when it works together. The gardens they planted will bloom. The pathways they cleared will be walked. But the real harvest of these two days is the seed of service that has been planted in every young person who participated.
The work continues. And so does the pride.
